Lieutenant General Brovold (R) has served for 42 years in the Norwegian Armed Forces.
He was the Norwegian Military Representative in NATO Headquarters Brussels from 2011 to 2014, representing Norway in the NATO Military Committee. From 2009 to 2011 he was the Commander of all Norwegian Forces operating in Norway and the First Commander of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters (NJHQ). From 2003 to 2009 he was the Commander of the Norwegian Home Guard. From 2000 to 2002, he was Chief Land and Amphibious Operations Centre / Planning Staff, before he in 2002 became 2nd in Cd, Regional Command Southern Norway. He also been Chief Land and Amphibious Operations Centre / Regional Headquarters North and Deputy J-5, Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Force / Planning Staff.
Lieutenant General Brovold (R) is currently President of the National Rifle Association (DFS) of Norway and has been elected to the Trondheim City Council as a member of the Centre Party.
He graduated from the Norwegian Military Academy in 1979.
